Phase change materials can be used together with water to build “hybrid” heat storage devices. A 1,200 L tank can store up to 460,000 BTU if a hybrid design is used. Heat-Booster™ has developed such a system, and it will be available in the near future. The heat storage device will be ideal for use with wood stoves equipped with Heat-Booster™ water heating coils or with Heat-Mover™ solar heat recovery systems.
