HOW CAN SOLAR OR BIO-MASS ENERGY BE STORED?
Water has high specific heat and can be used to accumulate energy in the form of hot water. Insulated tanks can hold sufficient volumes of hot water to heat homes for several days. Heat the water using attic heat and/or solar collectors when sun is available, or use wood stove equipped with heat recovery system and finned copper coil. Masonry/stone structures can also store recovered heat, when flue gas heat reclaimers are used. Release heat by circulating room air through structure.

DO YOU KEEP YOUR COTTAGE ON LOW HEAT DURING COLD SEASON?
Great savings can be realized by installing an attic heat recovery system. A differential temperature controller senses attic and room temperature. A blower transfers attic air into room if attic temperature is 2°C (adjustable) above room temperature. Easy installation and low cost provides quick pay-back! Natural gas is usually not available in cottage areas. Improve economics by heating water year round. Warm attic air can also be used for drying laundry.
