New solar heat collectors

Heat-Booster Energy Systems has submitted a patent application for a new low cost design for solar heat collectors. The collector modules can be used as walls, roofs and fences. This reduces installed cost substantially. Hot air from collectors can be used for space or water heating. There are no liquids in the collectors.
One unique design combines solar thermal with solar PV in same panel. Modules can also be used as walls, roofs and fences (ideal with pools).
Licenses are available.

Solar Heat Collectors - Lower Cost - Higher Efficiency

Heat-Booster Energy Systems has added new designs for solar heat collectors. These cut costs and improve pay-back of investments. Ideal for walls, roofs and pool heating. No liquids are circulated through collectors. Patents will be applied for.
The collectors can become walls and roofs, cutting total costs even more. This is ideal with new construction or renovations. Systems can be integrated with wood stove based space and water heating installations for year round comfort.

Water Heating with Woodstoves

Heat-Booster Energy Systems has developed safe and efficient water heating systems for woodstoves. One system uses hot air produced by the HB24 flue gas heat reclaimer, and the second system uses heat from the wood stove itself. Both systems eliminate the serious safety issues relating to exposing water in closed systems to high temperatures. Combinations of the systems can also be used. The water heating systems can be fitted to just about any woodstove.
Heat-Booster Energy Systems will seek patent protection for the system that uses heat from the wood stove itself. Licenses will be offered to wood stove manufacturers. Contact us if you are interested in being licensed for this technology.

Heat Exchanger Test

A fully counter-current flow finned tube heat exchanger has now been tested in conjunction with a solar heat collector. Results were as predicted: Outgoing air is cooled almost to incoming water temperature.
The heat exchanger design has been finalized, and the system can be used with HB24 wood stove flue gas heat recovery unit as well as with attic heat recovery systems.
Test was done during a day of variable cloud cover and intermittent sunshine. This is apparent from the graph.

Solar Heat Collector Test - Water heating

A high efficiency solar heat collector has been tested and found to be capable of capturing most of the available energy. Air to water heat exchanger operated at 60% efficiency. This will increase to at least 90% when a fully counter current HX design is installed. Results indicate that most of available solar heat is captured, and that the heat can be transferred to water. Next test run will use a fully counter-current heat exchanger and extra insulation on back of panel.
It is expected that up to 95% of available energy can be captured and transferred to water. There are no liquids that can freeze or boil in the collector. Evacuated tubes are not used. Manufacturing cost will be low with the result that pay-back will be quick.
